October 5 Things

PTO October PTO 5 Things

1. Fall Fest is THIS FRIDAY October 22nd from 5:30-7PM! Fall Festival needs YOU! We still have a huge need for parent volunteers to help during the festival! Each shift is only 45 minutes long so you can still enjoy the festival with your family! Sign up here:

2. The Clearwater PTO Donation Drive is in full swing! Our Husky Helpers are busy carrying out their Acts of Kindness at home and at school. The last day of the donation drive in October 29nd!

How to Donate

Deadline October 29th

  • View/share the donation link with your family and friends. Ask them to select the student's grade level and teacher. Also include the student’s name making a donation.

  • Text HUSKY to 202-858-1233 for the donation link. Share this with family and friends.

  • Cash / Check will be accepted…but we are trying to avoid this for health & safety reasons. If you do donate this way, please send in a sealed envelope for teacher with the student and teacher name on the front of the envelope NOTE: If you want to support more than one student, please make a separate donation for each student, or you can donate to the team called “School-wide” (this will not count toward the classroom or grade goal).

3. Parents Night Out:

The Clearwater PTO will be hosting a mix and mingle happy hour at Blind Owl Brewery (5014 E 62nd St) Thursday, October 28th from 5-7:30p EST. We hope you can join us for a casual evening of conversation and camaraderie with other Clearwater parents!

Please reply using the survey below no later than October 22nd to let us know if you’ll be able to attend, as well as the number of attendees in your party.

Please note this is an adult-only event and no childcare will be provided. There is no cost to attend, but attendees will be responsible for their own food and beverage.

If you have any questions, please contact Jessica Campbell

4. Dad’s Club

Clearwater Elementary is forming a Dad's Club! This club is for any male caretaker of a Clearwater Elementary student who would like to get involved in the Clearwater community. The Dad's Club is planning to participate in 3 events this year:

• Fall Festival - Assist in setup and tear down

• Winter Open Gym - Facilitate an open gym night at Clearwater

• Spring Fund Raiser - Raise funds for the program

If you are interested in receiving information about how to become involved in the Dad's Club please go to this link: or contact Blaine Dinwiddie at

5. Coffee and Copies

Our wonderful staff is always in need of help making copies! The library also needs help shelving books! Please consider coming in to help out if you have some spare time! Copies and Copies will be held every Tuesday from 9-11am for the remainder of the school year! To volunteer you must fill out and bring in a background check.

What has the PTO been up to this month!?!

  • Supporting our teachers celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month through a grant for special popsicles to celebrate!

  • Stock the Lounge! Thank you parents for your donations to fill our teacher’s lounges with yummy snacks!

  • Thank you to parents for coming to make copies and staple together the Pack 100 Booklets that went home to all students!
